FAQ
Caring for your stone
How do I care for my new countertops?
A few daily habits keep natural stone looking its best:
- Wipe up spills right away. The longer a liquid sits, the more time it has to absorb into the stone.
- Use a cutting board. Cutting directly on the stone can scratch the surface.
- Use trivets or hot pads. Do not set hot pots, pans, or appliances directly on the stone.
What should I use to clean my countertops?
Use cleaners made for natural stone. Our recommended products are listed below.
APPROVED - Safe for daily use on sealed natural stone
- MORE Surface Care: Daily Stone & Quartz Cleaner; Concentrated Multi-Surface Cleaner

When in doubt, add dish soap: warm water, a drop of dish soap, and a clean microfiber cloth.
Stains, etching, and chips
What causes etching?
Etching is a dull or lighter mark on the surface of the stone. It happens when something acidic touches the stone, such as tomatoes, strawberries, vinegar, citrus juice, or wine. Your sealer protects against staining, but it does not prevent etching. The best protection is to wipe up acidic spills right away.
My natural stone countertop has a stain. Who should I contact?
If Bella Marble Stone Solutions applied your initial sealer, stain concerns are handled under the sealer manufacturer's warranty. Contact STAIN-PROOF directly at 1-866-667-5119. A copy of your warranty is saved in your member portal under Documents.
My countertop has a chip. Should I keep the piece that came off?
Yes. Keep the piece in a safe place and let us know you have it when you schedule your service visit.
What size counts as a "minor" chip?
A chip smaller than a dime is considered minor.
Will my repair be noticeable?
Our technicians blend each repair so it is as unnoticeable as possible.
Natural stone varies in color, pattern, and veining from one area to the next, so a repair may not match the surrounding stone exactly.

Your sealer warranty
What does the sealer warranty cover?
Your initial sealer is a STAIN-PROOF® impregnating sealer, and its warranty is issued by the manufacturer. Bella Marble Stone Solutions does not issue a separate warranty.
The sealer reduces how much liquid your stone absorbs, which helps protect against staining. It does have limits:
- It does not prevent etching from acidic foods and drinks, so wipe up spills right away.
- It is not a surface coating. Coatings such as polyurethane make a surface more resistant, but they change the look of the stone, need to be reapplied every few years, and can trap water underneath.
For exterior stone surfaces, the manufacturer recommends regular cleaning with STAIN-PROOF Alkaline Cleaner (formerly Hanafinn Oxy-Klenza™).
For full warranty terms, see the warranty document in your member portal or contact STAIN-PROOF at 1-866-667-5119.
